Hairy Curtain Crust - Stereum hirsutum

Description

A reflexed or occasionally completely resupinate corticoid with a leathery texture and hairy, zonate cap.  The smooth fertile surface does not stain when bruised.  The colour is yellow-orange.

Stereum subtomentosum is similar but has a narrower connection to the substrate and the smooth undersurface stains yellow if bruised.  Stereum gausapatum, sanguinolentum and rugosum stain red when bruised.
