The NatureSpot Photo of the Month for December is this image of Cetti's Warbler, taken by NatureSpot contributor Marian Markham. More...
A reddish-brown warbler, best identified by its song - a sudden explosion of clear penetrating notes that ceases as abruptly as it started and may not be repeated for several minutes or more. Cetti's Warbler, Cettia cetti, is a bird of dense scrub it is more often heard than seen, so this is a great photo by Marian. Since the 1960s this species has been resident in the UK and is becoming more common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
