Jubilee Park in Cropston is being managed to encourage biodiversity - help us record the process. More...
Jubilee Park off Latimer Road in Cropston is a public recreation ground on elevated ground overlooking the valley of the Rothley Brook. Laid entirely to grass, until recently it has been kept closely mown but in 2023 the Thurcaston and Cropston Parish Council was awarded a SHIRE Environmental Grant to help enhance the biodiversity of the site. With the help of the groundsman and local volunteers, the Park now has relaxed-mown meadow areas and new native tree and shrub planting which will support an enhanced range of wildlife going forward. Formal wildlife surveys have been conducted and species identified will be submitted to NatureSpot in order to see how the Park develops over time as the habitats improve. We need your help to document the process of rewilding. If you're in the area, pop along and see what you can record.
