You may be familiar with the Dark-edged Bee-fly, Bombylius major, a charming spring insect often seen on sunny days. We now have two species of Bee-fly in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Dotted Bee-fly, Bombylius discolor, was first recorded here in 2019, but is moving into our area.  Please take a close look at all the Bee-flies you see - and send us your records.
