NatureSpot Trustee Mike Higgott was trimming his Buddleia then found this juvenile specimen on his wheelie bin lid. The spider has a widespread but patchy distribution in southern England and south Wales but this is the first record from anywhere in the East Midlands. It will be interesting to see if any more specimens of this distinctive species turn up.
