Lyddington Churchyard

Getting There

Lyddington lies to the east of the A6003, south of Uppingham.

From the A6003, take either Stoke Road or the road past Uppingham College to join Main Street heading south. Turn left onto Church Lane, and the church (as well as Bede House) are on the left.

There is parking in the village but by the churchyard and Bede House it can be a challenge as there is little space.

Lyddington is served by the RF1 bus (from Centrebus), and stops on Main Street around the corner from the church.

Description

The small village of Lyddington is at the southern point of Rutland some 2 miles south of Uppingham and 19 miles south-east of Leicester. The oldest parts of St Andrew's church date from the 14th century, and the churchyard is unique in  having the remains of a Bishop’s Palace attached.  The pretty churchyard contains a variety of trees and bushes along the perimeter.
