Fungus beetle

Mycetophagus atomarius

This small but pretty beetle (Mycetophagus atomarius) is a rare find in Leicestershire but this one was found in the north of the parish near the River Wreake. It is a specialist feeder of Cramp Balls - the round and black fungi that are found on Ash trees.
