Description

Yellow to deep yellow flower, leaves 1 to 4mm wide; tepals suffused or striped with purple.

Similar Species

Most yellow crocuses are this species but C. ancyrensis (as before, but leaves 0.5 to 1.00 mm wide) or C. chrysanthus (creamy yellow with non-fibrous corm) can also occur.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland as an introduction or an escape from cultivation. It was not included in the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire.
