Xantholinus longiventris

Description

A long, dark, slim bodied rove beetle. The head and thorax are quite elongated.

Similar Species

The species Xantholinus longiventris and Xantholinus linearis can only be separated by microscopic examination.

All year but peaking in spring and summer.

UK Status

Fairly frequent and widespread in England and Wales.

VC55 Status

Common in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 248 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
