Vezdaea aestivalis
This lichen can be oliver green to reddish brown, often with a fluffy surface. Apothecia are usually present and are dull red/brown, up to 1mm. It is tolerant of copper and zinc so can be found in habitats that other lichens avoid.
Has been found in various habitats, particularly on acidic soil, often over Peltigera, also on railway ballast.
All year round.
Widespread but rather scattered in Britain.
Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland.
