Verdigris Agaric - Stropharia aeruginosa
This is a medium sized (Cap 2 to 8 cm diameter). Vivid blue green coloured and slimy at first, although the colour fades with age. The cap is bell shaped when young but flattens later. The stalk (stipe) is quite long and of uniform thickness. It has a fragile brown/black ring, and below this the stalk is covered in fine white scales, or flakes.
Found on lawns and in woodland areas, but particularly favours wood-chip mulches in gardens, and parks.
July to October
Grows in grass and plant material
Widespread but not particularly common in Britain.
Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland.
