Velvet Mite agg. - Trombidiidae sp.

Description

There are several similar species in the mite family Trombidiidae, often red and covered with setae giving a velvet appearance. The velvety hair on the bodies of the adults act as feelers. The adults have four pairs of legs, and they use the front two legs to judge their movements. They also have a pair of eyes. Detailed examination of each individual is required in order to determine species. Images included on this page show specimens that have not been identified to species level and are intended for illustrative purposes only.
