Toothed Crust - Basidioradulum radula
An annual resupinate corticoid, white to cream in colour, with coarse teeth, flattened and with rounded ends. The teeth are longer in the centre, gradually shortening towards the margin of the crust.
There are a number of similar toothed crusts, and microscopic examination may be needed to separate them.
Photograph fertile surface to show teeth; note host plant and substrate. This is a difficult species to confirm from a photo, and we recommend that it is verified from a specimen by an expert before submission to NatureSpot
Saprobic on dead hardwood, mainly fallen branches and felled trunks.
Fruiting in late summer, autumn and early winter.
Only an occasional find in most parts of Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
