Thale Cress - Arabidopsis thaliana

Short to medium erect plant with basal leaves forming a rosette. Flowers white 3 mm. Fruits linear 5 to 20 mm hairless, not flattened.

Small plant.  Seed-pods long.  Basal leaves entire to toothed.

Waste places banks and walls, preferring dry conditions.

March to October.

Annual or biennial.

Fairly common throughout Britain, particularly in the east.

Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 183 of the 617 tetrads.
