Tawny Marbled Minor - Oligia latruncula

Description

Wingspan 24 to 27 mm. The Minors, or Oligia species are notoriously hard to separate from one another, and it is preferable to examine the genital structure to be certain. However, this species does often show a tawny or bronzy coloration.

Life History

Like related species, the larvae feed on a variety of grasses.

UK Status

Fairly frequent and widespread in Britain. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as common.

VC55 Status

Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = A (common and resident).
