Small Silver Sedge - Lepidostoma hirtum
Forewing length 6 to 9 mm. Basal antennal segment is longer than the head and bears long hairs. The male has broad scales on the forewing.
Rivers, streams and stony lakes.
June to September.
Widespread and fairly frequent, particularly in the north and the west of Britain.
It seems to be uncommon or under recorded as an adult in Leicestershire and Rutland There are widespread larval records for VC55 but few previous adult records – Rivers Lin, Chater & Gwash in 1986 and Grand Union Canal Loughborough 2012.
