Skullcap Leaf Beetle - Phyllobrotica quadrimaculata
Size 5 to 7 mm. The straw-brown or orange-brown elytra are marked with a total of four dark spots or blotches, giving rise to the Latin name.
Please provide a photograph.
As the Common Name suggests this species is strongly associated with Skullcap.
Peak months are July and August.
Widespread, although not common, across much of southern parts of Britain.
Seems to be rather uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland in recent years.
