Description

Wingspan 25-30 mm. It shows a variety of colour forms, but all have the same basic pattern.

An early Spring species, flying in March and April.

Life History

The larvae feed on types of Rose.

UK Status

This moth is fairly common in England and Wales and scarcer in Scotland and Ireland. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as common.

Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = A (common and resident)
