Saprinus semistriatus
A blackish beetle measuring 3.5 to 5.5 mm.
Usually found on carcasses of animals or birds, occasionally on dung.
Peak time is May to August.
Widespread but occasional in Britain possibly under recorded.
Uncommon or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were only 4 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015 recorded between the 1800s and1992.
