Pterostichus oblongopunctatus

Description

9 to 12.5mm.  This is a black, rather shiny ground beetle.

Detailed examination of the specimen is needed to identify the species, but with care, Pterostichus oblongopunctatus can be recognised by at least four puncture-like depressions in the elytra. There are a number of similar species and confusion is common. Please provide photographs that show the depressions in the elytra.
