Peach-leaved Bellflower - Campanula persicifolia

Description

Medium to tall hairless plant, stems erect and unbranched, upper leaves linear lanceolate toothed, flowers usually blue, occasionally white, 30 to 40 mm long, horizontal or ascending broad bells, not nodding, borne in a lax raceme.

Widespread but occasional and in scattered locations in Britain.

VC55 Status

Uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland, the Ellistown record is only the third record for VC55. It was not recorded in the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire.
