Parsley-piert - Aphanes arvensis

Low to short, hairy, often prostrate plant, branching from the base. Leaves pale green, 3 lobed. Flowers tiny 1.5 to 2 mm, green, petal less in tight leaf-opposed clusters.

Slender Parsley Piert (Aphanes australis) has also been recorded in VC55, but is rare.  See Stace (4th edition) for details of differences in stipule teeth, fruiting hypanthium and sepals.

Widespread in Britain except in the extreme north-west.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland but easily overlooked. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 94 of the 617 tetrads.
