Parrot's-feather - Myriophyllum aquaticum
An attractive bright green plant with long stems and floating mats of attractive feathery leaves which rise above the water.
Aquatic habitats, usually pond margins, lakes, reservoirs, ditches and canals. It is highly invasive and grows to such an extent that it can choke water bodies and out compete native vegetation, blocking out light.
June to October.
Perennial
A non-native invasive plant. Originally a plant of garden ponds, it is now classed as an invasive of critical risk and was banned from sale after April 2014. It is widespread in England and Wales.
First record for Leicestershire and Rutland was at Braunston in 2006. It was not recorded in the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire.
