Nematinus steini
Females: 6 to 8.5 mm. Males: 5 to 6.5 mm. An almost entirely orange-yellow species.
Adult: Record should be supported by a photograph and the adult should be keyed out.
Larva: Detailed images are needed to show all details clearly as expert confirmation may be needed.
Likely to be encountered in damp areas where Alder is present.
Flight period: June to August.
Larvae feed on Alders and pupate in the ground.
Believed to be fairly frequent in Britain, but not well recorded.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
