Mystacides longicornis
Length 6 to 9 mm. This caddisfly is easy to identify due to its patterned wings. It has very long antennae and red eyes. The typical form has a striking pattern of brown and yellow shaded bars, but there is a less common variety which is a plain yellow form.
Ponds, lakes, rivers and canals.
Between May and September.
The larval case is made of small stones and sand grains.
Common species widespread in Britain.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
