The Miller (Fungus) - Clitopilus prunulus
The cap is initially convex when young, but in maturity flattens out, usually with a shallow central depression. It is white or light grey or yellow, sticky when moist, and 3 to 10 cm in diameter with a characteristic feel to the touch of chamois skin. Flesh has a strong mealy odour and taste.
Under various trees. Found in woodland, gardens and parks and in both coniferous and broadleaf woodland.
Found from summer to late autumn
Common and widespread in Britain.
Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
