Mealy Bonnet - Mycena cinerella
A small grey Bonnet with campanulate caps and adnate to decurrent gills.
This is a difficult speces to identify with certainty unless it has been microscopically examined from a specimen. Expert verification prior to submssion to NatureSpot is recommended. Also photograph from top down, in side view and from underneath to show gills and full length of stipe. Note habitat and substrate.
Among fallen leaves of deciduous trees, and needles of coniferous trees.
October / November.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
