Map-winged swift - Korscheltellus fusconebulosa

Wingspan 30 to 35 mm.

Often associated with moorland and areas where Bracken is plentiful.

The adults fly in June and July.

The larvae live underground and feed on the roots of Bracken.

This species is generally distributed across Britain, but is local in some parts. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as local.

Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant).
