Loensia variegata
This species has a rather mottled appearance, often brown or yellowish against white.
Loensia pearmani
Examination of genitalia is required in order to distinguish this species from L pearmani (ref. National Barkfly Recording Scheme website http://schemes.brc.ac.uk/barkfly/key/A1-B-C4-D3.htm)
Found on trunks and branches of range of deciduous and evergreen trees and bushes.
Main period is July to September but has even been recorded in January in the south of England.
Uncommon
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
