Laetisaria lichenicola

Description

The lichenicolous fungus Laetisaria lichenicola grows inside the thallus of Physcia lichens, turning the lichen thallus pink.

Habitat

On twigs and branches of deciduous trees. Parasitises corticolous lichens Physcia adscendens and Physcia tenella.

Scattered throughout England. Known in Scotland and Wales.
