Hymenoscyphus imberbis

Description

Small fruitbodies (c. 2mm) white stalked discs, becoming depressed in the centre as they mature. The short, tapering stalks are downy towards the base. Damaged fruitbodies become pinkish around the damaged areas.

Habitat

wet rotting wood, often beside watercourse or submerged.  Hosts include oak, alder, ash.

When to see it

Fruiting from spring to early winter.
