Hylemyza partita
Hylemyza partita has a brown thorax with dark lateral stripes. It has plumose arista with hairs longer than the width of the antennae diameter.
Males
- long plumose arista (single row above and below)
- scutellum with small bare triangle at the base
- lower squamata not extending beyond upper (lateral view)
- four rows of pre-sutural acrostichals (inner two rows much finer)
This species has a red ID rating and unless identified by a known expert you must carry out detailed examination of the specimen and provide a satisfactory explanation of how it was identified for the record to be accepted.
This species is copraphageous.
Widespread, especially in the southern half of Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland unknown.
