Hygrotus inaequalis
This is a small (3 mm) water beetle. The dark brown elytra are marked with paler yellowish buff.
In the water of well vegetated ponds and ditches.
Spring to autumn.
Widespread and common in Britain.
Common in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 138 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
