Description

Length 3.5 to 5.5 mm. This is a small, rather plain, pale yellow sawfly.

Most likely to be encountered in areas where Rowan is present.

When to see it

May and June.

Life History

Larvae feed on the developing fruits of Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia).

UK Status

A local species in Britain where there are few records.

VC55 Status

Rare or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. The High Cross record of 3rd June 2016 is the first for our area (VC55).
