Greater Featherwort - Plagiochila asplenioides

Description

This large species has stems that are 5 to 9 mm wide and extend to 12 cm in length. The leaves are 2.5 to 4.5 mm wide and 3 to 4.5 mm long, convex and translucent green, and attached in an overlapping manner angled towards the tip of the stem. The species is dioicous but not often fertile, capsules are rarely found.

Prefers damp turf in woodlands and on sheltered banks. May also be found in fens and on rocks or rotting wood.
