Geomyza tripunctata
A small fly with very distinctive patterning on the wings, though this is similar to other Geomyza species. The abdomen colour is varied, from red-brown to black.
G. nartshukae
Found in grassland and cereal fields.
Peaking in summer, but may be seen in most months of the year.
Larvae tunnel in the stems of grass plants and can be a pest of cereal crops.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
