Geomyza combinata agg.

Description

Only two species in the combinata group are currently found in Britain – they are Geomyza balachowskyi and G. hackmani. Separation of these two species on male genitalia is extremely difficult, and females cannot be separated. For this reason we have decided to accept records for the G. combinata aggregate, rather than asking for identification to species level.

Identification difficulty
Recording advice

Unless identified by a recognised expert, a photo is required even for aggregate records, and the specimen should be examined with a microscope. In the comments box, state the key or ID method used and describe the size and identifying characters.

UK Status

True status in Britain is difficult to determine due to lack of records, although it would appear to be fairly widespread in England and Wales.

VC55 Status
