Eucosma campoliliana

Wingspan 13 to 18 mm. Quite distinctive with its black and brown markings on a white background, and white head.

It prefers dry locations.

The moths fly in June and July, from evening onwards, and are attracted to light.

Larvae feed on the seeds and stems of Ragwort.

Records come from most areas of Britain. In the Butterfly Conservation’s Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as common.

Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant).
