Habitat

Ancient broadleaved woodlands, beneath the decaying bark of ash, beech, birch and sycamore; especially on sycamore affected with sooty bark disease (Cryptostroma corticale).

Nationally notable. Widely scattered across England and Wales but scarce in the north.
