Dolichopus pennatus
This is a small hairy legged fly with a metallic looking green thorax and bronze-green abdomen. There are many similar members of this family and detailed examination is necessary in order to identify the species.
Prefers damp habitats.
Summer.
Widespread and fairly frequent in England and Wales.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
