Dolerus fumosus
This is an all black sawfly and resembles several others in the genus, so detailed examination is necessary for identification to species level.
Flower meadows and woodland edge.
May and June.
Widespread in England and Wales though not well recorded, possibly due to the difficulty of identification.
Rare or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland where there are very few records.
