Cymbiodyta marginella
Approximately 3.5 to 4 mm. This is a bronze coloured beetle with an elongate-oval shape.
Detailed examination of the specimen is needed to identify the species (a photograph alone is not normally sufficient because key features are too small or hidden) and/or there are one or more similar species and confusion is common.
Found in shallow pools, marshy places and wet ditches.
Although the species may be found throughout the year it is most frequent in spring.
The species usually overwinters in debris and other matted bankside vegetation.
Fairly frequent and widespread in England except for the west country and the northeast.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire & Rutland.
