Common Yellow-sedge - Carex demissa

Only 5 to 30 cm in height and with yellow green leaves which are 1.5 to 5 mm wide, rather rigid, recurved and with pale sheaths.

Either obtain confirmation from a County Recorder before submitting a record, or submit detailed images showing key features.  We recommend that you take and retain a specimen; the County Recorder may wish to see this for confirmation. 

Wet areas, damp woodland rides, stony lake shores, but preferring acid soils and avoiding lime.

Fruiting June to September.

Perennial.

Local but fairly widespread in Britain.

Very local in Leicestershire and Rutland where its only real stronghold is the Charnwood Forest area. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 15 of the 617 tetrads.
