Common Evening-primrose - Oenothera biennis
An erect short to tall somewhat hairy plant. Flowers primrose yellow 40 to 50 mm in erect leafy spikes, stigmas equalling anthers.
The County Recorder has asked for a specimen of this plant to be retained for verification
Waste ground and open habitats, road verges.
June to September.
Annual or biennial. Often as a casual or garden escape.
Scattered throughout England, scarcer elsewhere in Britain.
Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 13 of the 617 tetrads.
