Common Chrysalis Snail - Lauria cylindracea

3-4mm. This very common small, dumpy snail varies from light to dark brown in colour. The mouth has a single tooth which is contiguous with the lip. Adults have a thickened white lip.

There are several small snail that look very similar. The thickened white lip and the single tooth within the mouth must be seen to confirm its identity. Juveniles lack the thickened lip and can't be identified securely.

Will tolerate moderately moist to dryish habitats, and is often found in gardens, urban habitats and woodland.

Widespread and common throughout most of Britain

Common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
