Clustered Domecap - Lyophyllum decastes
Cap may be various shades of brownish grey and measure between 4 and 10 cm across. It is convex, usually irregular, margins often scalloped; smooth, shiny.
When growing in clumps this fungus is relatively distinctive but can cause confusion if found growing singularly!
Often found in soil which is rich in leaf litter in and particularly on grassy edges of deciduous broadleaf woodland.
July to November.
Clump forming mushroom.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
