Clustered Domecap - Lyophyllum decastes

Cap may be various shades of brownish grey and measure between 4 and 10 cm across. It is convex, usually irregular, margins often scalloped; smooth, shiny.  Pale sturdy stipes.  Often growing in a dense clump.

Photograph the whole clump, and individual fungus from top down, in side view and underneath to show gills; note habitat and substreate.  

Often found in soil which is rich in leaf litter in and particularly on grassy edges of deciduous broadleaf woodland.

July to November.

Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
