Found in a wide variety of habitats, including woodlands, grasslands, marshes and waterside vegetation, gardens,
Adults of both sexes are found mainly in May and June, females occasionally throughout the year and males from May to September.
The species is widespread in much of Britain, but apparently very scattered in the west and much of the north.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
