Clay Triple-lines - Cyclophora linearia
Wingspan 26 to33 mm. The second brood individuals are often different to those of the first and closely resemble Maiden's Blush.
Well wooded areas especially those containing Beech.
Moths fly from May to July, and sometimes again in the autumn.
The larvae feed on the leaves of Beech.
Occurring mainly in the southern half of Britain, the range of this species extends as far north as Cheshire and it can be fairly common in places. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as local.
Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = C (very scarce resident or rare migrant).
