Broken-barred Carpet - Electrophaes corylata
Wingspan 22-30 mm. Easily recognised by the characteristic central band which is pinched at the mid-point.
Woodland, scrubland and other bushy places.
The single generation is on the wing in May and June when it is attracted to light.
The larvae feed on the foliage of a range of trees and bushes.
Fairly common species which occurs throughout most of Britain. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as common.
Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = A (common and resident)
