Blushing Wood Mushroom - Agaricus silvaticus
This species has a cap of 5-10cm diameter, which is covered in brown fibrous scales. The stem has a ring. The white flesh bruises red when cut if it is fresh and brown if older. It is one of a group of mushrooms that are difficult to tell apart.
It is found in mixed woodland
From late summer through autumn.
Fairly common and widespread in Britain.
Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
